Summary

This week in science, we studied cell theory. Cells are made out of atoms and are the basic structure of all living things. They also are what make living things operate. For an example, the Ribosomes are apart of the organelles that produce protein. We also started our cell war unit this week. In this project we have to elect a new president of cell land, and explain why our candidate is the best.

S&EP - Arguing from Evidence

I collaborated with my peers in searching for the best explanation. I did some research on proteins which I discussed with the rest of our group. We were trying to find out information about proteins because we knew that the ribosomes are the cells that produce proteins. Together we figured out that protein is the building block for bones, muscle and cartilage. There is also a certain protein made from amino acids that makes your hair grow.

XCC - Cause & Affect

Our team realized a cause and effect relationship while studying our cell, the ribosome. What we noticed was the proteins in the ribosome cause different things to happen in our body. For an example, the cause of hair growth is the effect of the amino acids working to stimulate the growth. Also the cause of your muscle and bones being strong is the effect of proteins strengthening their roots. These are the cause and effect relationships of the ribosome our team noticed.
